This page will serve to investigate, describe, and analyze the usefulness of my job-based search engine, indeed.com.

Executive Summary

In today's economy, many people could use a little (or a lot of) help with their job searches. As a senior graduating straight into the job market, I know very well how difficult it can be to find the right job. Employers are filling less spots and must be picky when deciding which applicants to interview. A quality search engine can help potential employees find the jobs that are a good match and maximize the efficiency of their job search.

At this point, I've completed my description of the website as well as a pretty thorough demonstration of how to use the search engine. A comparison between other job-based web search engines is still on my plate for determining the usefulness of indeed.com. At this point, though, I'm pretty much on my way to giving this site a great recommendation!thumbs-up.jpg

Search Engine Description

Using the guidelines from our lecture about web search engines, I will describe indeed.com and analyze it on its general search-engine-ability. My analysis is here.

Comparison

There are many job-based search engines to chose from, ranging from all-inclusive sites to niche sites (militaryspousejobsearch.org, womensjoblist.com, etc.) For the sake of comparing apples to apples, or as close as possible, I'll focus on the all-inclusive search engines sites.

Go to the comparison page to see how indeed.com ranks against Monster.com, Yahoo!'s HotJobs.com, and CareerBuilder.com.

Demonstration

There are many ways to use indeed.com to your advantage. For a step-by-step walk through of your options, you can follow my easy demonstration.
